PDF (portable document format) files provide a popular cross-platform means for transferring, reading, and printing documents. Adobe, in conjunction with its Acrobat software package, provides a free PDF file reader for Windows, Macintosh, Palm, Pocket PC, Unix, and Linux platforms. It is also available in many languages.

You can download your free Acrobat Reader directly from Adobe.

Once you have the reader installed on your computer, you can either read or print the document online or download the file to your computer for use later.

In general, PDF documents are a mix of text and graphics. The size of the file depends, in part, on the quality of the graphics. We have struck a compromise here, so the graphics are not always perfect.

The current version of the Acrobat Reader is 8.1, but this version is not necessary for reading these files. However, you will need at least Version 5.0. If you have an older one, please upgrade.

Although we do not currently have a publication specifically addressing procedural issues, we do explain how the product development process is related to cycle time reduction.
